“You shouldn’t forget the importance of entertainment.”
(1 out of 5) Okay, I get it, you made your point. A common response to criticizing either the original or this American version of “Funny Games” is that you’re missing the point. Director Michael Haneke wants you to be ashamed that you are entertained by violence. He wants you to question why you feel the need to watch people do horrible things to other people in the fiction you desire. So, I get it. I really do. That said, the movie is still pretentious and a waste.
“Funny Games U.S.” is a shot for shot remake of Haneke’s 1997 original (filmed in Austria) right down to the house used is virtually a duplicate. Perhaps Haneke thought the movie should have been made for an American audience to begin with as aside from word of mouth few would see the original. It is a highly uncomfortable movie to watch unless torture happens to be your kind of thing.

“Introduce a little anarchy… Upset the established order… Well then everyone loses their minds!”
(5 out of 5) It is difficult to know really where to begin writing about a movie that feels like just about everything has already been said. Well before the tragic events of Heath Ledgers passing, The Dark Knight was all over the Internet. Initially people were outraged by his casting as the Joker and wrote the film off as a doomed failure. Then clips of his performance surfaced and everyone changed their mind.
I have to admit i was worried, that a movie this hyped would not be able to live up to it all. It may well have come about that “The Dark Knight” was a great movie but seemed like a failure due to expectations being so high. Well, without any doubt, “The Dark Knight” meets those expectations with one of the most well made, well acted and thoroughly entertaining movies I have ever seen.

I just installed the latest version of Wordpress, 2.6 and so far everything is working 100%. One thing I love about Wordpress is the installation as the last thing I need to fix something while I’m not working. There are a number of interesting new features in this release:
- Post revisioning
- Improved speed of admin interface
- Improved plug in management
- You can install your config file outside of root

All I can be is me, whoever that is. — Bob Dylan
Recently I was accused of not really being myself on my own blog. At first I did not understand but then I read some of my posts and saw it for myself. I have always been, for one reason or another, hesistant to fully say what is on my mind and not ’sanitize’ my posts. Some of the posts came off as a little more bitter than I wanted them to be, others a lot tamer than I intended.
For obvious reasons there are things better left off the public space of the Internet. Ultimately though I think what I had been doing sometimes (and I see this in other blogs as well) is writing what you think people want to read. So from here on out I am going to try to simply let my mind escape onto the screen and be myself.
So now I’m off to shotgun a beer and read guns an ammo in the bathroom… no wait thats not me… Make that bake a batch of cookies and watch Oprah… nope wrong again… Head out and spend a few hours at the gym in prepration for a 15K run… dammit that’s not it…
Who am I again?

“Do I look like I care what people think?”
(4 out of 5) I love super hero movies, always have, always will. Much like so many other people the ones who are tragically flawed always seem to be the most entertaining to me. For most of the movie I had a dumb grin on my face, laughing along as Hancock dispensed his highly destructive form of avenging.
What may throw some people off is that “Hancock” is not the movie that the trailers are making it out to be. The mere mention of the films ‘villain’ makes me wonder if they actually watched the same movie I did? Perhaps some critics were confused when they thought they were going to see a movie about a drunken super-hero smashing stuff and got something a little more? It is not perfect but “Hancock” is thoroughly, from beginning to end, an entertaining movie.
